Tutti Island

I must have said this a thousand times...there's not much to do here in Khartoum. You need to make your own fun. And what's more homemade and fun than a PICNIC!
For a real adventure, we decided to take the ferry across the Nile to Tutti Island while the weather is still "decent". (Read: NOT killer hot.) We ended up at the one and only shade tree and had a lovely afternoon. The California Cole-Slaw was quite a hit--everyone keeps asking for the recipe! (Thanks Mom!)We were only barraged with goats about three times. We found that if you ran at them, waving your arms in all sorts of ridiculous motions, you might push them back for a good ten minutes.Supposedly there are white sand beaches on Tutti Island, which I guess there really are, but it's not like you can sun-bathe (swim suits are a no-no here)! Our pathetic attempt to play frisbee ended quickly as we were soon burning up.

Definitely a random afternoon...but relaxing, refreshing and something new!!
