From the second day we arrived until yesterday we have been inundated with working on the self-study for our school's accreditation. Obviously this is kind of a big deal. For NYC teachers, it's a heck of a lot like an SQR!! (Dear God?? Already?)Unfortunately, we managed to show up on year five on the five year cycle. I was overjoyed to jump right into bureaucracy! Hurray!

At least we got to have a nice rooftop party (at my house, nonetheless) to celebrate the completion of the report! It was a fairly typical celebration: desert mats, fairy lights, four sheesha pipes loaded with mint and apple tobacco, loads of hummus, falafel and a new addition--empanadas! Thanks to the intoxicating atmosphere, we managed to make fools of ourselves, dancing with bosses and rocking out to Bohemian Rhapsody in four-part harmony!

(Oh...and as far as the title, the coals from the sheesha kept trying to burn the roof down. Luckily we have mini-tongs to lurch after any burning residue!)

Now all we have to deal with is the week-long visit from the accreditation team in October. Oh joy!
